POETRY SANGAM

A visual-performative poetry panel where we explored the intersection of words, sound, movement, and visual art. Contemporary poets and artists talked about their shared inspirations from poets and poetry movements from India--the Tamil legendary poets of South India (Andal, Avvayar, Tiruvalluvar) and the Prakalpana Movement of East India (Kolkata).   On the panel, we had Dr. Sridhar Vasudevan (Bharatanatyam dancer and Karnatak musician, India), Dr. Padma Venkatraman (author and speaker, RI), Lakshmi Shalini (vocalist, NYC), and  Geof Huth (visual poet, NYC). The panel was moderated by Jayanthi Moorthy (visual artist-curator and founder of Akṣarā, NYC).
