Founder & Director
I am a creative individual with a diverse background spanning art, design, and education. My journey as an immigrant to the US and New York in 2004 has deeply influenced my work. Immersed in New York City's rich creative culture, I have developed initiatives that offer fresh perspectives on Indian culture, highlighting its aesthetic beauty and profound cultural significance often overlooked.
In 2021, I launched Akṣarā with a focus on bringing traditional and contemporary ideas about Indian culture to the forefront. It's mission is to utilize the power of Indian cultural arts - including visual, performing, literary, and other art forms - to offer cultural education content and learning experiences. Akṣarā aims to become a creative hub where Southeast Asians and individuals from all communities can engage in a shared learning experience about Indian culture.
Ms. Moorthy brings over 20+ years of experience in the creative industry in

She exhibits art and also curates shows. In her role as a curator, Jayanthi orchestrates exhibitions that give voice to artist perspectives and social justice issues. Notable among her projects is the 2018 co-curation and production of <DECODE>: Artists Policing Data for Anya Andrew and Shiva Gallery, New York, and the 2016 group show Collective Consciousness for A.I.R. Gallery at the Kochi-Muzris Biennale, India. As an interdisciplinary artist, Jayanthi is celebrated for her ephemeral artworks and digital installations. Her portfolio includes solo exhibitions at prestigious venues such as Brown University, A.I.R. Gallery, OED Gallery, and Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art.
