Starting this March, Akṣarā will be a resident organization at a senior center in Manhattan. Over the course of the residency we will be engaging older adults in an art curriculum inspired by the culture of India. This community art engagement program will promote health and provide opportunities for education, socialization, and recreation for all older residents with particular attention paid to the special needs of the infirm, homebound, and isolated. This program is supported by public funds from the New York City Council, in partnership with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) and the Department for the Aging (DFTA).
